Education Scholarship

The Norfolk Task Force on Aging, which consists of a diverse group of Members that care about advocacy, wellness, and resources for Older Adults (Seniors) is investing in the Norfolk community by establishing an “Educational Scholarship”.
*Established: Fall 2021 for a chosen local School, College or University “Nursing Major Student”.
This “educational scholarship” will be awarded as a one-time allowance to any “new or existing student” enrolled in a Nursing, Medical or CNA “certificate/degree”, program that meets the scholarship guidelines below in its entirety. Fall 2024 Semester Only
The Norfolk Task Force on Aging “Mission” is the conduit for sharing resources with Norfolk Seniors. The Educational Scholarship consist of the following guidelines:
• Scholarship Amount: $500.00 per academic year
• Student Status: Full-time or Part-time Student at Tidewater Community College with a major in Nursing
• Field of Interest: Nursing, Medical or CNA Program in an Accredited School, Certificate Program, College or University; Gerontology concentrations will be considered as a priority choice for this scholarship
• GPA: 2.7 or higher
• Student Demographic: Norfolk resident
• Scholarship Restrictions: Monies can be used for books, tuition assistance, school supplies or other misc. school cost.
• Terms of Scholarship: One-time semester use only; funds will be applied directly to the Student’s Account.
• Requirements: Interested students must submit a 500-word essay (minimum). The essay should consist of why the student is interested in working in the field of Nursing with Seniors and their plans to continue their studies. Student must provide a Proof of 2.7 GPA or higher and major of Nursing.
- Submissions are due by September 30, 2024. Funds will be allocated for the current semester. Kindly include: Your name, address, TCC Campus, proof of 2.7 GPA or higher and Student ID number for award purposes.
- Scholarship will be awarded to “one student” by October 31, 2024.
